(Sharecast News) - Cambridge Nutritional Sciences said in an update on Wednesday that it expects lower full-year revenue and a swing to a small EBITDA loss for the year ended 31 March, reflecting disruption to orders in key international markets.
The AIM-traded diagnostics group said revenue is expected to be £7.0m, down from £8.3m a year earlier, while adjusted EBITDA was forecast to show a loss of £0.4m compared with a £0.4m profit in 2025.
Net cash was expected to decline to £2.6m from £4.9m.
The company said performance was affected by reduced and delayed orders from the Middle East and Asia in the second half, driven by geopolitical instability rather than a loss of local partners.
Excluding those regions, underlying revenue growth was approximately 11% year-on-year, supported in particular by the UK and Indian markets.
Despite the revenue decline, Cambridge Nutritional Sciences reported an improvement in gross margin to 67.8% from 65.3%, reflecting ongoing efficiency measures and cost control across the business.
"I am pleased that underlying revenue adjusting for the economic disruption showed 11% growth; driven in particular by the UK and Indian markets, however we remain mindful of the potential for ongoing global uncertainties," said chief executive James Cooper.
"We continue to drive manufacturing efficiencies and are pleased to report a gross margin increase to 67.8%. This is a testament to all the hard work of my colleagues."
The company said it was continuing to progress its IVDR development programme following recent investment in capital equipment, which it expected would deliver long-term benefits in product offering, costs and market positioning.
At 1549 BST, shares in Cambridge Nutritional Sciences were up 7.69% at 2.1p.
