LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Israel said on Thursday that it has killed the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy, Alireza Tangsiri.
In a post on X, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Tangsiri had been "eliminated" in a precise strike" in Bandar Abbas.
Israel's defence minister Israel Katz said in a video statement that the assassination of Tangsiri was carried out on Wednesday night and targeted other "senior officers of the naval command".
"The man who was directly responsible for the terrorist operation of mining and blocking the Strait of Hormuz to shipping was blown up and eliminated," he said.
Iran has yet to comment.
